Specimen Requirements:

Bone Marrow Aspirate:
- 5-7 ml aseptically aspirated, bilaterally in a sodium heparin (green-top) tube. Do not collect in lithium heparin.
- Do not expose specimen to formalin or fixative fumes.
- Refrigerate specimen. Do not freeze. Use cold pack for transport. Be sure cold pack is not in direct contact with specimen during transport.
- Peripheral Blood/Stem Cell Products:
- Green- or lavender-top tubes, 2-5 cc for a volume yielding no less than 10 million cells. Heparin should be in every tube submitted.
